We keep DoorKing weld-in hinge plates, frame brackets, and slide-gate weldments on hand and can usually have a welded repair or bracket replacement installed same-day in Jacksonville, typically between $180 and $420 depending on which weld point failed and whether the gate needs to come off its hinges. Most owners discover a welding problem the same way: a gate that starts dragging on the opener side, a creak that turns into a sag, or a hinge that looks like it’s pulling out of the post. Cody Beckman and our crew handle DoorKing-specific fabrication work regularly, and we’ll give you a written price before the torch ever lights up.
Which DoorKing Models This Applies To
This covers the full DoorKing slide and swing gate lineup you’re most likely to own here in Jacksonville: the 9150, 9100, 6100, and 6300 series swing operators, plus the 9050 and 1601 slide operators. The welding points that fail on these models are predictable once you know where to look. On swing gates using DoorKing’s post-mount hinge hardware, the hinge plate itself is usually fine, but the weld attaching the bracket to the gate frame fatigues, especially on ornamental iron gates around San Marco and Ortega where salt air has spent years working on the steel. On slide gates, the V-track guide brackets and cantilever roller mounts are the common weld-failure points.
If you’re trying to identify the right part, look at the end of the gate where the operator arm attaches. DoorKing stamps their hinge brackets and guide assemblies with a part number that starts with a 2600- or 2601- prefix on most current models. A tape measure helps: DoorKing swing-gate hinge brackets center 4-1/2 to 5-1/2 inches off the post face depending on the series. For weld-on brackets, OEM DoorKing steel is thicker than what you’ll find in most generic aftermarket copies, about 3/16-inch plate versus sheet-metal-thin imports. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with DoorKing, but we stock OEM brackets and quality aftermarket weld plates for the common sizes. If the steel on your gate frame is 2-inch square tube, you’ve got the standard profile and we likely carry the bracket on the truck.

Signs Your DoorKing Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags toward the latch side by half an inch or more at the free end. That sag is a hinge weld or hinge bracket flexing. The operator keeps working harder to move the gate, and that’s what burns out motors over time.
- You hear a metal-on-metal grind near the opener arm. The weld holding the operator’s attachment point is cracking and the arm now moves against raw steel instead of a solid bracket.
- The gate bounces when it stops. A broken weld on a roller mount or guide bracket removes the tension that keeps the gate stable, so it shudders on stop instead of resting.
- New rust streaks run down the post under a hinge or bracket. Rust stains that move downward mean the weld has cracked and water is getting inside the joint. In Jacksonville’s humidity, that crack grows faster than it would inland.
- The gate moves an inch or two by hand at the hinge point without the post moving. That free play is the weld separating. Even if the gate still opens, the opener is carrying weight through a failing connection.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Jacksonville, simple hinge bracket rewelds for a DoorKing swing gate run $180 to $280. If the bracket itself is too far gone and needs replacement with a new OEM or aftermarket plate, expect $260 to $420 including the part. Slide-gate roller mount welds fall in the same range, though a full cantilever roller assembly replacement can push toward $500 when the bearings and brackets all need to go. What drives the top end is access: if we need to pull the gate leaf off, or if prep work means grinding out old rusted weld material before welding anything new, the labor hours climb.
You’ll see the exact number in writing before any work starts, not after. That price includes the weld or bracket, grinding and prep, any touch-up primer on bare steel, and a full cycle test of the operator to make sure the repair didn’t shift the gate geometry and tax the DoorKing motor. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every weld we make. If the joint shows signs of failing within a year, we fix it. That’s what the promise means, no argument, no fine print.
DIY or Call Us?
You can diagnose this one safely from the ground: look at hinge brackets while the gate is stationary, push the gate gently at the free end and watch whether the bracket moves without the post moving, and photograph what you see. That tells us a lot before we arrive. What you should not do is attack a gate weld with a home welder or, worse, try to grind and bolt a fix in place. DoorKing gates are heavy, the welds are structural, and a gate leaf under spring tension can shift when you least expect it. We’ve also seen a few gates around Jacksonville that were “adjusted” by three different people before we got there, and those take twice as long to diagnose because the original alignment is long gone. If the gate is binding, call us at (904) 250-0188 and tell us what it’s doing. We’ll get you a straight answer on whether it’s a weld or something else entirely.
FAQs
A properly welded DoorKing hinge bracket on a gate that’s aligned correctly should hold for 12 to 18 years in our climate, but gates within a few miles of the Intracoastal or the ocean often need attention at 8 to 10 years because salt air accelerates corrosion at the weld seam.
Yes, most of the time we can grind out the failed weld, reweld the original bracket, and restore the joint to factory strength, which keeps the cost in the $180 to $280 range. The bracket only gets replaced when the steel plate itself is rusted thin or bent beyond alignment.
A hinge bracket reweld on a swing gate usually takes 60 to 90 minutes from setup to final cycle test, while a slide-gate roller mount repair runs closer to two hours when cleanup and paint touch-up are included.
We stock OEM DoorKing bracket plates for the 6100, 6300, and 9150 series, plus quality aftermarket equivalents for the common 2-inch and 2-1/2-inch square gate frames, so most Jacksonville repairs happen in one visit. If you own a LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, or Ghost Controls gate, we stock parts for those as well.
Call (904) 250-0188 and tell us what your gate is doing. We’ll give you a written price before any work starts, lay down drop cloths and wear shoe covers inside the house every single time, and send you a photo of the clean-up before we leave. Cody Beckman is known for one thing around Jacksonville: telling you exactly which part failed and whether it can be fixed without replacing anything else. He’d rather save you $250 than sell you a bracket you don’t need.
